City Holiday Retreat: Coloured Clay Creations Course

$430.00

Start or end the year with something nourishing: making with your hands— slow, grounding, creative.

This retreat is a small break from the usual noise—a way to step out of the holiday rush and spend a couple of peaceful afternoons building something expressive and colourful with your hands.

It isn’t a meditation retreat, but people often say that working with clay becomes meditative on its own. Pressing colours together, forming slabs, carving patterns—it naturally pulls you into the moment. With ambient music, light aromatherapy, herbal teas, and a quiet studio pace, it becomes a wholesome, grounding way to end or begin the year.

Please note: Only 6 spots are available in a studio that normally fits 20. This keeps the sessions quiet, spacious, and truly focused on each person.

Over two 4-hour sessions (with a pause for bliss balls and quality teas), we explore coloured clays and marbling techniques to create a more ambitious piece than a one-off workshop allows. You can build a sculptural vase, a bowl, a jug, an abstract decorative piece, or any vessel-type form with personality and complexity. The longer format gives you time to work slowly and enjoy the process without rushing.

This isn’t an A–Z “follow me” class. It’s supported exploration. You’ll get demonstrations and guidance whenever you want them, and full access to my coloured clays, textures, tools, and construction techniques. But you’re encouraged to follow your own ideas and work in your own rhythm inspired by numerous artworks around you.

In a small group, everyone gets close, personal assistance.

I teach as a professional sculptor and experienced ceramics instructor, and the goal here is simple: to help you create something you’re proud of—something bold, patterned, calm, abstract, sculptural, or entirely your own. It’s a peaceful creative break inside the city, designed to feel both grounding and uplifting.

After the retreat, I’ll glaze and fire your piece for you, and it will be ready for collection once the firing process is complete.

For the most relaxed experience, each session is open for up to 4 hours, and I genuinely recommend staying the full time if you can—it keeps the pace slow, calm, and enjoyable.

You’re also welcome to arrive a little later or leave earlier if needed. All I ask is that you let me know, so I can support you properly with your project.
